I've been looking for inspiration. I found it. Never Compromise. Do what you love and the money will follow.
And so, I'm doing what I have to, to create new work.
These are the current sculptures I'm working on are (or at least have plans of working on.)
From the Futurama Series: Fry - face done ( though I dont think he looks goofy enough - more of a James dean allure about him right now.. ) / hair next, Amy - face done/ hair next, Zapp - face done / hair next
Midna True Form (Zelda) 11 inch format - Body sculpted. Paul the Alien - Head sculpted/ body next..
I was watching Disney's UP again... I think I'll sculpt Kevin's babies. in Life size. Maybe 7 inches?
Tyrael from Diablo 2/3 is still in preproduction, I'm having trouble thinking of the scale for him... 18 inches would be nioe but at this size it would be difficult to make it afforable to mold and cast him... (That is if I decide to sell him )
Any ideas?
I feel I must keep challenging myself and push my comfort levels... Its the only way I can get better.
Side note: I'm considering opening commissions. But only for the serious buyer. I only offer the best work I can make, which takes time, and dedication. My turn around can be quick, but it will require many many hours on my end ( aka my free time). People have asked me for prices. This is something I cannot give as each project is unique, and I am not a comic book shop that sells collectibles that are mass produced. What I make is unique and professional. You cannot find my work anywhere but from me exclusively.
Also, people may not realize this, but I, as a sculptor, have to be able to render the character in 2d well before they start sculpting. This is helps plan the workflow.. I sketch and draw poses before I move on to do the actual sculpting. This all takes time. so before someone goes I'm not paying x for a sculpture. Think about all that goes into it. Molding and casting and sometimes painting. All take time and money.

Contest Results
Hi Everyone,
As someone who's participated in past dA contests and has made semi finals and even won 2nd place in one, I can say that by putting yourself out there, you're really pushing yourself to be the best you can be.
Look at these contests as a way to do something amazing. Its a huge challenge for anyone to work under deadlines and produce the best work they can. As long as you can say you've done the best you can, and really mean it - then you've already won.
Instead of being spiteful and hating on the judges decisions, be thankful for the opportunity the contest gives you to create great work. It drives us to be great.

Malthael Sculpture
Hello Deviants!
As promised, I've submitted my piece for the Diablo 3 Contest. I have a lot of work in progress pictures to show everyone as well as behind the scenes for the photo shoot.
I sculpted it out of EVA foam. over 80 pieces of armor total. This was the most labor intense project I have ever worked from start to finish in tight deadline to date. It is also the largest sculpture I've ever made for a Deviant art contest measuring almost 2 ft. But enough words -
Here are links to the piece!

Contest
First off, Let me apologize for the long hiatus from deviant art.
I am building up a new body of work so these days I'm super busy - in a great way!
Diablo 3 is one of my favorite franchises so I had to create something for this contest, Its the most ambitious thing I've ever worked on and I've learned a lot of new techniques from doing it. I'm one day from completing the sculpture of Malthael. After doing this piece, I've discovered armor is very very tedious to make and I've also created molds to cast a few pieces that are repeated int he armor. Also. I realized I can't sculpt wings made out of smoke - so I've tried to come up with a crea

fry was based on james dean so perhaps you're not so far away..
nice to know you're creating some more sculptures from futurama (it would be interesting to see how amy's hair turns out) and others, keep up the good work!
