Super smoked

Description

First off, I know its crazy to compete amongst digital art giants using traditional art but, I'm a sculptor and I adore this franchise so I had to enter.

I humbly present to you a sculpture of Malthael. It is fully articulated, even in the fingers and ankles.

The whole thing measures about 23 inches tall.  I've been working on it for about 18 days and its probably the most ambitious work I've ever created for a contest. It consists of over 80 individually crafted pieces of armor. I used EVA foam for the armor, 2 types of cloth for the tunic and carved the weapons out of magic sculpt resin, then I cast the weapon in smooth cast resin.

I created Malthael's fog (as seen in the cinematic) using vapor from a vaporizer to create the smoke effect. I took about 200 photos before I got a few usable shots. This one was shot after so much vapor was made that the whole room was filled with vapor, added sort of an ethereal look. I couldn't decide so heres one last one. Everything you see before you is real not Digital. I have a video of me making this happen :)

If you are curious to see how this sculpture was made I will be posting work in progress photos on my gallery so be sure to check this out.
I'd also like to thank my amazing girlfriend Stephanie for supporting me throughout this endeavor and for not killing me as I've made a mess of my studio aka our living room.

Thanks for your time.

Really impressive work,- think the smoke was a good choice to give some atmosphere and depth- it would be interesting to see it under a stronger light, so we could better see the shadows and highlighting of the detail- really nice work :D
